Israeli defense-tech company AITAN emerged from stealth on September 2, 2026 with a $41 million financing round co-led by Deep33 and Dell Technologies Capital, defining a new procurement category the company calls Robotic Sovereignty-as-a-Service. The round takes total capital raised to $54 million.
Battle-tested autonomy for allied militaries
AITAN, formerly known as eyesAtop, builds AI systems that let armed forces operate and coordinate drones and unmanned vehicles as a single connected force rather than as isolated platforms. Its stack combines software, hardware, mission-specific system design, production support, operator training and in-theatre deployment help — the aim is that a customer nation can operate, maintain and evolve its robotic combat systems independently of overseas supply chains.
Half a million operational flight hours since Oct 7
The company says its systems have been in daily use by the IDF and Israel's Ministry of Defense since October 7, 2023 and have logged more than 500,000 operational flight hours. AITAN recently won a tender to build the IDF's command-and-control platform for the next generation of attack drones, plus design contracts for robotic weapon systems. Financial terms of those contracts were not disclosed.
Founders from Unit 8200, name honours a fallen brother
AITAN was co-founded by Udi Oster and Daniel Almog, both former officers in Israel's elite Unit 8200 intelligence corps and previously founders of food-ordering platform Tapingo, which was acquired by Grubhub. The company renamed itself in memory of Udi Oster's younger brother Captain Eitan Oster, an officer in the Egoz unit who was killed during ground operations in Lebanon in September 2024.
Angel investors in the round include Gokul Rajaram, Bling Capital and Kevin Weil's Scribble Ventures. AITAN plans to expand from IDF-focused deployments into other allied militaries. The raise comes alongside a broader Israeli defense-tech surge that includes Airbility's ₩6.5B counter-UAS round and Critical Materials Group's $10.3M seed.
