Google is rolling out Gemini Call for Me to Pixel 11 owners in the United States, letting the assistant dial businesses, sit through hold music and navigate phone-tree menus on the user's behalf. The feature debuted September 24, 2026 in the Phone by Google public beta and is bundled into paid Gemini subscriptions.
How It Works
The workflow starts inside the Phone app: a tap on the business listing surfaces a new "Call for Me" button. Users type a natural-language brief — for example, "book a table for two at 7pm; ask about the patio" — and Gemini takes over. The assistant introduces itself to the recipient, uses the user's own phone number, and streams a live transcript back so the user can jump in, redirect the call, or hang up at any point.
Where It Fits In Google's Agent Push
Call for Me is the consumer sibling of the enterprise voice agents rolling out through Gemini Enterprise and slots into the same feature drop that gave Pixel 11 users a lock-screen Gemini, live translation upgrades, and closer ties with the new C&C agent family. It also inherits ground rules pioneered by Google Duplex in 2018: the AI must self-identify, the call is opt-in on both sides, and users can watch the interaction as it happens.
Availability And Limits
The rollout covers Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL and Pixel 11 Pro Fold. Users need a Gemini paid subscription and must enrol their device in the Phone app's public beta. Google is limiting the launch to the US while it collects data on accents, background noise and edge cases. "Real-world conversations are nuanced," the company noted, framing this as a staged experiment rather than a broad launch.
What It Signals
The move puts a mainstream, always-on voice agent inside the phone dialer — a category previously dominated by call-center chatbots and third-party concierges. It also sharpens competition with Apple, whose Siri overhaul has been repeatedly pushed back, and with Anthropic's Claude Opus 5.5 and OpenAI's GPT-6, both of which are being folded into third-party voice products this month.
