Reframe Systems, the physical-AI startup rebuilding American housing production with robotic microfactories, has raised an additional $40 million in venture equity to expand its FAB network across North America and accelerate delivery of resilient, site-customized homes.
Energy Impact Partners Leads The Round
The financing was led by Energy Impact Partners, with participation from Counterpart Ventures, E12 Ventures, Global Brain, Thin Line Capital, Up Partners and LACI Impact Fund. Existing backers Eclipse, VoLo Earth, Cubit Capital, MassMutual Catalyst, RA Capital Management (Planetary Health) and Nor'easter also followed on. "Reframe stood out to us for applying a unique combination of Physical AI and manufacturing discipline to one of the largest and least productive sectors of the economy," said Anil Achyuta, Partner at EIP.
FAB1 Opens In Billerica On October 5
The centerpiece of the raise is FAB1, a new Massachusetts microfactory that Reframe says will begin operations on October 5. FAB1 is engineered to produce up to 500 multifamily units or 250 single-family homes annually with less than $5 million of equipment, thanks to Reframe's Pixels to Parts software, robotic fabrication cells and digital work instructions that let builders of all skill levels assemble complex components.
Physical AI Meets A 4.5 Million-Home Deficit
America is short 4.5 million homes, and Reframe pitches its distributed microfactories as a scalable answer where centralized modular builders have historically stumbled: microfactories sit close to the communities they serve, adapt to local zoning and climate, and get faster and cheaper with every home built. The company says its homes are delivered 3x faster and at 35% lower cost than traditional stick-built construction.
10 Homes Down, 114 More Booked
Reframe has completed 10 homes to date, of which eight are already occupied, and expects to deliver 114 additional units in the next 12 months. Projects underway include a 12-unit block at Adams Circle in Devens, a five-story apartment building in Roxbury, a Thornton, New Hampshire development and wildfire-resilient bungalows for families rebuilding in Altadena, California after the recent fires.
Founded By The People Who Scaled Amazon's Robots
CEO Vikas Enti, Felipe Polido and Aaron Small — all Amazon Robotics alumni who helped deploy more than 500,000 robots across Amazon's fulfillment network — founded Reframe in 2022. Enti now says the company is pulling its one-million-homes target forward to 2040, five years ahead of schedule.
The raise slots into an unusually intense week of physical-AI dealmaking around housing, construction and industrial robotics — including Apate.AI's $8M seed for autonomous scam-bot defenders, NEURA Robotics' ADLATUS buy and HUMAIN's Arabic-first enterprise AI push.
