ReliaQuest said on 20 July 2026 that it is joining the OpenAI Daybreak Cyber Partner Program, giving the Tampa-based security-operations company privileged access to OpenAI's frontier cyber models as it races to bring agentic AI further into enterprise defense.
Frontier Models Piped Into GreyMatter
Under the arrangement, ReliaQuest will draw on OpenAI's GPT-5.5-Cyber model and the CodexSecurity plugin to develop new capabilities inside GreyMatter, its agentic AI Security Operations Platform. The two firms will jointly select high-impact use cases and move them through evaluation and production within GreyMatter's managed workflows.
ReliaQuest brings a large corpus of investigation patterns and attacker behaviour it has captured across enterprise SOCs, which OpenAI will use to shape guardrails, evaluation criteria and abuse-prevention controls for security-focused deployments of its models.
Agentic AI Arms Race in the SOC
Attackers are increasingly using large language models to automate reconnaissance, phishing and lateral movement, shrinking the window defenders have to react. ReliaQuest CEO Brian Murphy framed the deal as a way to keep pace: "The more we can collaborate, the better we can defend against AI-driven attacks."
GreyMatter already advertises six agentic "Teammate" personas, more than 200 agent skills and 400 AI tools, together with a Universal Translator layer that normalises telemetry across SIEM, EDR, cloud and business applications. The OpenAI partnership adds model diversity: GreyMatter uses a model-agnostic broker that routes each task to the most effective LLM based on use case, latency and cost.
OpenAI's Expanding Cyber Bench
Daybreak launched earlier in 2026 as OpenAI's flagship programme for security vendors and system integrators. ReliaQuest joins a roster that already includes Palantir, Cisco, Accenture, CrowdStrike, Darktrace, Sophos and SoftBank, all of which get early access to cyber-specialised frontier models and OpenAI's patch-planning tools. The deal also lands amid a wave of AI-cybersecurity M&A. Cisco moved to acquire WideField Security to bolster its Splunk-powered agentic SOC, while newer entrants like Neo Security and Empirical Security are attracting large rounds around the same agentic-defence thesis.
