Sierra Raises $950M at $15B to Scale AI Customer Agents

Enterprise AI agent startup Sierra has raised a $950 million funding round led by Tiger Global and GV, pushing its post-money valuation above $15 billion and giving the company more than $1 billion in cash to spend on becoming what it calls the “global standard” for AI-powered customer experiences.

A $1 Billion War Chest for Enterprise AI

The round, announced on May 4, 2026, was led by Tiger Global Management and Alphabet's GV, with participation from new and existing investors. Sierra, co-founded by former Salesforce co-CEO and OpenAI chairman Bret Taylor with ex-Google Labs leader Clay Bavor in February 2024, said the fresh capital will be used to expand its platform internationally, accelerate research, and scale its sales and engineering teams.

The deal arrives in one of the most heated stretches of enterprise-AI fundraising on record, with rivals such as OpenAI, Anthropic and Cognition all collecting multibillion-dollar rounds in recent weeks.

Customers Span 40% of the Fortune 50

Sierra started with four design partners two years ago. Today the company says more than 40% of the Fortune 50 are customers, including Prudential, Cigna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Rocket Mortgage and one in three of the world's largest banks. Agents built on Sierra's platform are powering “billions of interactions,” from refinancing mortgages and processing insurance claims to handling product returns and powering nonprofit fundraising campaigns.

Revenue Growth Among the Fastest in Enterprise Software

The funding follows a stretch of breakneck growth. Sierra reported crossing $100 million in annual recurring revenue in late November 2025, less than two years after launch, and said in February 2026 that ARR had reached more than $150 million. The company has called the pace one of the fastest in the history of enterprise software.

Beyond Customer Service: Ghostwriter and Agentic Workflows

In April 2026, Sierra launched Ghostwriter, an “agent as a service” tool that lets users describe an agent in natural language and then autonomously builds and deploys it. CEO Bret Taylor has argued at recent conferences that most enterprise software is underused, and that the next wave of agentic AI will let employees skip complex interfaces entirely. The new capital, he said, is meant to fund that bet at scale.

Why It Matters

Sierra's raise underscores how quickly the AI agent market is consolidating around a small group of leaders with the resources to land massive enterprise contracts. With more than $1 billion now on the balance sheet, Sierra is positioning itself alongside rivals such as Cognition and Anthropic in the race to own the enterprise AI stack, even as infrastructure deals reshape how those agents are deployed.
