Tata Motors, India's largest commercial vehicle manufacturer, has signed a long-term Power Purchase Agreement with Welspun Renewable Energy to co-develop an 86 MW wind-solar hybrid project supplying four of its plants in Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Karnataka.

200 million clean units per year

Announced from Delhi on July 3, 2026, the hybrid plant is estimated to generate 200 million units of electricity annually and avoid over 140,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions each year. Enabled through co-investment, the wind-solar hybrid solution will supply green energy exclusively to Tata Motors' commercial vehicle manufacturing facilities, supporting the production of trucks and buses that power India's freight and public transport.
