Vinmec Launches Vietnam's First Connected Robotic Surgery Network

Vingroup's Vinmec Healthcare System has activated nine surgical robotic platforms across five Vietnamese cities under a single clinical and training framework — the country's first multi-connected robotic surgery ecosystem.

Vinmec Launches Vietnam's First Connected Robotic Surgery Network

Vinmec Healthcare System, part of Vietnamese conglomerate Vingroup, has launched a nationwide network of High-Tech Robotic Surgery Centers — the country's first multi-connected robotic surgery ecosystem, linking nine robotic platforms across five cities under one clinical, training and governance framework.

Nine robots, one operating framework

For general surgery, Vinmec runs three platforms in parallel: Intuitive's Da Vinci Xi at Vinmec Times City in Hanoi, Medtronic's Hugo RAS at Vinmec Da Nang and Vinmec Central Park in Ho Chi Minh City, and MicroPort MedBot's Toumai MT-1000 — with 5G-enabled remote surgery capability — at Vinmec Smart City and Vinmec Can Tho. Orthopedics adds the ROSA, MISSO and CORI joint-replacement robots, while neurosurgery and spine programs integrate the StealthStation S8, Mazor X Stealth Edition and O-arm intraoperative imaging.

Rather than the machine count, the notable move is coordination: Hanoi's Vinmec Times City International Hospital serves as the clinical command hub, standardizing surgical pathways, simulation data and intraoperative guidance across the network, with a Robotic Surgery Academy handling training and certification.

A '3-in-1' surgical model

Vinmec describes its approach as a "3-in-1" framework built on personalisation, automation and standardisation — combining preoperative 3D reconstruction, AI-enabled robotic assistance and internationally recognised clinical protocols. Deputy Health Minister Tran Van Thuan praised the ecosystem's span of clinical care, education and research, while Vinmec CEO Tran Trung Dung framed the goal as positioning Vietnam as a regional destination for precision surgery.

Southeast Asia enters the robotic surgery race

The launch drops Vietnam into a global robotic surgery market in rapid expansion, where Intuitive is rolling out over 100 Da Vinci 5 updates with telepresence and startups like Moon Surgical are pushing multimodel physical AI into the OR. Multi-vendor networks like Vinmec's — mixing American, European and Chinese platforms under one governance layer — remain rare even in developed markets, following regulatory momentum such as the FDA's expanded Da Vinci 5 clearances.
