Enterprise AI coding platform 8090 Labs has closed a $135 million Series A led by Salesforce Ventures, and founder Chamath Palihapitiya has left the board to take the CEO role full time – his first operating job since Facebook in 2011.
Software Factory For Regulated Engineering Teams
Menlo Park-based 8090 Labs pitches its Software Factory as a coding platform for Fortune 500 engineering teams that need production-grade output with audit trails, access controls and compliance evidence baked in – a step beyond consumer-grade code generation. The company has been selling into banks, insurers and healthcare payers since exiting stealth in 2025.
A Salesforce-Anchored Cap Table
Salesforce Ventures led the round with participation from Jeffrey Katzenberg's WndrCo, David Sacks' Craft Ventures, David Friedberg's The Production Board and Jason Calacanis's LAUNCH. Angel investors included Palo Alto Networks CEO Nikesh Arora, Quora CEO Adam D'Angelo and Sequoia's Cliff Robbins. Salesforce's lead check aligns 8090 with the Agentforce and Data Cloud enterprise stack, and hints at a distribution partnership on top of the equity investment.

An Operator Return In A Crowded Category
Palihapitiya's move breaks a 15-year run as a full-time investor and podcaster and lands 8090 in a crowded enterprise coding-agent field alongside Cursor, Cognition, Anysphere, Poolside and Magic. The August tape has been rich in coding-agent capital: Convex raised $57M the same week and hyperscaler compute deals like Anthropic-Volta's $10B pact continue to fund the underlying stack.
