Anthropic on May 28, 2026 released Claude Opus 4.8, the newest version of its most advanced publicly available model, paired with a research-preview feature called Dynamic Workflows that is designed to coordinate large fleets of subagents on long-running tasks. The new Opus is available everywhere at the same standard pricing as the previous Opus release.

A Faster Upgrade Cycle Than Usual

Opus 4.8 ships just 41 days after Opus 4.7 — a tighter cadence than Anthropic's typical schedule, where its most recent Sonnet and Haiku releases are three and seven months old respectively. The system is designed to help large models like Opus coordinate complex, multi-step tasks across hundreds of parallel subagents. Anthropic said Claude Code paired with Opus 4.8 "can now carry out codebase-scale migrations across hundreds of thousands of lines of code from kickoff to merge, with the existing test suite as its bar."

That positioning targets a market where rivals are racing to harden agentic capabilities for enterprise workloads. In the Opus 4.8 announcement, the company said "we're making swift progress on developing these safeguards and expect to be able to bring Mythos-class models to all our customers in the coming weeks." Claude Mythos was previously used to surface 10,000 software flaws in a Glasswing security partnership.
