Bunkerhill Health has closed a $25 million Series B led by Khosla Ventures with participation from Sequoia Capital, Felicis, Optum Ventures and Y Combinator, the San Francisco company disclosed on July 16, 2026. The round takes total funding across seed, Series A and Series B to $55 million and lands as Bunkerhill's Carebricks platform is running more than 20 agents in production inside a single US health system.
An agent factory for hospitals
Carebricks lets a hospital take an internal idea, from surfacing incidental findings on imaging to nudging patients into overdue screenings, and turn it into a governed AI agent that acts inside the electronic health record. The platform now runs at 15 health systems including Cleveland Clinic, Mayo Clinic, Intermountain Health, Sentara Health, Endeavor Health, Ballad Health and the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB). Bunkerhill co-founder and CEO Nishith Khandwala pitches the platform as "a system of action" that pairs FDA-cleared algorithms with workflow automation instead of another chatbot layered on top of the EHR.
UTMB is the flagship
At UTMB, 22 Carebricks agents run in parallel across cardiology, nephrology, pulmonary, imaging and administrative work. In its first month a coronary calcium detection agent flagged a patient at imminent risk of a heart attack from an incidental abdominal CT; cardiology confirmed the risk and performed a triple bypass. A nephrology triage agent has cut average specialist wait times by more than half by prioritising by severity and routing lower-acuity patients to telemedicine. A lung nodule agent doubled guideline-concordant follow-up and closed urgent cases 80 percent faster with far less manual coordinator work, according to UTMB Chief AI Officer Dr. Peter McCaffrey.
Khosla bets the bottleneck is over
Vinod Khosla, founder of Khosla Ventures and an early OpenAI backer, framed the round as validation that health systems are finally ready to run agentic AI in production. "The bottleneck in healthcare AI was never the technology, it was getting a health system to actually run it," he said. Bunkerhill will use the funding to broaden the Carebricks agent library and harden the governance, monitoring and safeguards that hospitals need for scaled AI deployment. The raise follows a wave of healthcare AI activity, from Neko Health's $700M Series C to the UCSF Health Converge accelerator and NVIDIA and Foxconn's CoDoctor rollout in Taiwan.
