Philadelphia-based Burro on Sunday introduced the Grande 44, its most powerful autonomous platform to date and its first purpose-built for heavy industry. With 44 horsepower of peak power, towing capacity up to 6,000 pounds, a 1,500-pound steel cargo tray and the ability to operate seamlessly across indoor and outdoor environments, the Grande 44 brings nine years of field-proven physical AI to industrial applications that warehouse-bound automation cannot reach.
From Nurseries To Intermodal Yards
Burro has spent close to a decade scaling outdoor autonomy across agriculture, nurseries and logistics, logging more than 1 million hours and 200,000 miles of real-world operation. The Grande 44 translates that experience into the toughest industrial environments: intermodal and depot yards, airports, rail yards, automotive logistics, and sprawling facility campuses. Breaking the Indoor/Outdoor Barrier
Traditional AMRs and AGVs are engineered for smooth warehouse floors and depend on magnetic tape, reflectors and consistent lighting. The Grande 44 is designed to cross the threshold from indoor facilities to outdoor yards natively, navigating gravel, slopes, dust, mud and variable weather without infrastructure modification or operational interruption. The platform supports industrial towing as a decentralized autonomous conveyor, scouting and patrolling with RFID readers, autonomous payload carrying on its steel cargo tray, and vegetation management when paired with Burro's Cortador autonomous mower or Sprayito selective spot sprayer attachments.

Built On A Proven Foundation
The Grande 44 draws directly on the autonomy stack Burro has refined through real-world deployment. Its physical AI continuously captures millions of environmental scenes every day — people, terrain, weather, obstacles, lighting — feeding a proprietary dataset that improves every robot in the fleet. The same platform that has worked through tropical storms in Florida, sub-zero winters in the Northeast, and triple-digit Texas summers is now purpose-engineered for gravel yards, loading docks and heavy-traffic industrial sites. Like all Burro platforms, the Grande 44 is positioned as a collaborative force multiplier that absorbs repetitive, physically demanding transport tasks rather than replacing skilled operators.
Pre-Orders Open Ahead of Automate 2026
The Grande 44 is available for pre-order now, with first deliveries expected in H2 2026. Burro will demo the platform at Automate 2026 (June 22-25, Chicago's McCormick Place) at Booth 25064, with live robots running in the AMR Demo Area at Booth 24040. The launch lands as outdoor autonomy quietly becomes one of the most contested corners of robotics: HD Hyundai Robotics has just rolled out heavy-payload HDC cobots for industrial cells, while Standard Bots raised $200 million last week to scale U.S. arm production.
