Cerebras Systems has locked in a new 165 MW AI data centre in Mikkeli, Finland, developed with local operator Compute Nordic Finland and backed by a series of seven-year contracted capacity agreements. Construction on the first 50 MW phase is already under way, giving the wafer-scale AI player a long-lived European anchor as demand for its inference platform keeps climbing.
Phased build to 165 MW
The Mikkeli campus will scale from 50 MW to 80 MW and then to the full 165 MW as capacity is delivered. Cerebras and Compute Nordic designed it for closed-loop cooling that recirculates water rather than draws continuously from the municipal system, and the campus is engineered to support waste-heat recovery for the surrounding community.
Long-term industrial anchor for South Savo
Independent analysis from Ramboll estimates the project represents €1.0-1.7 billion of indicative investment at full scale, supporting 80-250 permanent jobs and €0.8-2.5 million per year in property tax revenue for South Savo. Compute Nordic CEO Pyry Virrantaus called the deal "a contractually committed, phased build-out that reflects exactly how much AI compute the market needs today," and stressed that the value of the site would be measured in ten- and twenty-year employment, not construction spikes.
Cerebras keeps stacking infrastructure
Cerebras (NASDAQ: CBRS) CEO Andrew Feldman said the Mikkeli architecture is "built to get more useful AI output out of every megawatt we deploy." The deal follows a broader Cerebras push that includes AWS, OpenAI, Group 42 and Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence as anchor customers, and a Callosum partnership announced last month for ultra-low-latency heterogeneous agentic inference.
