Comp AI Bags $34M Series A For Continuously Agentic Security Compliance

Miami-based Comp AI has raised a $34 million Series A led by Roo Capital and Grand Ventures to push its open-source, AI-native compliance platform beyond audit preparation into always-on security operations, the company said on September 17. The round bumps a startup that started as a Y Combinator alum into the widening "continuous compliance" tier of the cybersecurity market.

Beyond Point-In-Time Audits

Comp AI's platform analyzes a customer's systems, documents and control setup to auto-generate policies and risk registers, then leaves persistent agents in place to handle vendor risk, evidence collection and control validation between formal audits. "The first generation of compliance software proved this process could be automated," said co-founder and CEO Lewis Carhart. "Agentic AI lets us go much further."

The company supports SOC 2 and ISO 27001 out of the box and open-sources its core so that customers can inspect, extend and self-host — an unusual posture in a market dominated by proprietary competitors like Vanta and Drata.

Why Investors Are Piling Into Agentic Security

Comp AI joins a busy September 2026 slate in AI-native security. It follows MIND's $72M Series B for AI-native DLP, Hackuity's $19M Series B on AI vulnerability triage, Eve Security's $7.5M seed for AI-agent runtime, and Arcos' €5.5M seed for physical infrastructure security. Investors are betting that regulated enterprises will shift compliance budgets from once-a-year audit prep into always-running AI agents — and that agentic runtime, not point tools, will define the next security stack.

What's Next

Comp AI plans to grow engineering headcount, expand controls beyond SOC 2 and ISO 27001 to HIPAA and FedRAMP, and deepen enterprise integrations with cloud providers and identity systems. Watch whether Roo Capital and Grand Ventures line up a Series B in the next twelve months — a common pattern in agentic security, where the winners will need capital to scale evidence-collection agents across thousands of customer environments.
