ENGINEAI Opens Shenzhen Factory for One Humanoid Every 15 Min

Chinese robotics firm ENGINEAI has opened a 129,000-square-foot Shenzhen plant that it says can build one humanoid robot every 15 minutes, starting with its T800 model.

ENGINEAI's Shenzhen smart factory producing T800 humanoid robots

Chinese robotics company ENGINEAI has opened a large smart manufacturing base in Shenzhen and says the plant can roll out one humanoid robot every 15 minutes. The first batch of its T800 heavy-duty humanoids has already come off the assembly line in the city's Honghualing district, marking another step in China's rapid push to industrialize humanoid robotics.

One robot every 15 minutes

The new facility spans roughly 129,000 square feet and uses a fully integrated workflow that handles incoming quality checks, component testing, assembly, pre-shipment testing, logistics and after-sales service in a single system. ENGINEAI says the layout is built for high-volume output and faster commercialization.

Before any unit ships, each robot must pass 79 quality checks and 46 simulation tests covering stability, durability and consistent performance. The company says the structured process is designed to keep product quality steady even as production scales toward its target of up to 10,000 units.

An expanding humanoid lineup

Founded in October 2023 and based in Shenzhen, ENGINEAI develops both general-purpose and specialized industrial robots. Its current lineup includes the T800 heavy-duty humanoid, the PM01 humanoid, the lightweight SA02 companion robot and the JS01 quadruped, giving the firm a spread of two-legged and four-legged platforms aimed at repetitive, labor-intensive inspection and industrial tasks.

The launch lands amid a broader wave of Chinese investment in humanoids and automated manufacturing. China recently stood up its first humanoid robot lifecycle management platform, while global rivals scale their own factory plans, including Hyundai's move to deploy 25,000 Atlas humanoids across US plants.

Zhengzhou base and a $1.4 billion valuation

ENGINEAI's expansion reaches beyond Shenzhen. The company is building a global smart manufacturing headquarters in Zhengzhou, Henan province, where a separate production line for 10,000 units is under construction at the Zhengzhou Yunzhi Science Park. The site is expected to work closely with local component suppliers and coordinate the regional supply chain.

The manufacturing buildout follows a major funding milestone. In April, ENGINEAI completed a Series B round that raised $200 million, lifting its valuation above 10 billion yuan, or about $1.4 billion. The company called the financing a key step toward growing its manufacturing, research and commercial deployment of humanoid robots. The momentum mirrors deployment deals elsewhere in the sector, such as the partnership to scale humanoid robots in Singapore.
