Google Cloud has unveiled Gemini Enterprise for Legal, a purpose-built agentic AI package that layers legal-specific skills, prebuilt agents, secure connectors and audit tooling on top of its Gemini Enterprise platform. Cleary Gottlieb, Freshfields, Weil and Williams & Connolly are named as launch customers.
What's In The Box
The preview product ships with skills for contract review, diligence, regulatory horizon scanning, DSAR fulfillment, brief drafting, citation verification, and motion-to-seal redaction. It uses Anthropic's Model Context Protocol to plug directly into iManage, NetDocuments, Harvey, Everlaw, RelativityOne, Thomson Reuters, Legora, Docusign, CourtListener and Solve Intelligence, so a firm's ethical walls and matter permissions flow through automatically. Base Gemini models are never trained on customer prompts or outputs, and every workflow is logged for compliance review.
Why Google Is Vertical-izing
Gemini Enterprise for Legal and a parallel Gemini Enterprise for Financial Services are the first in a series of industry packages Google Cloud will ship on top of the horizontal Gemini Enterprise platform, with healthcare and life sciences editions on deck. Google is competing head-on with Harvey, Thomson Reuters CoCounsel and Anthropic's Claude for enterprise legal spend, and its pitch is a fully governed stack built on first-party silicon, network and models rather than a stitched-together point-solution.

Cleary Managing Partner Jeff Karpf said the platform will "slot in seamlessly" with the firm's existing daily tools; Freshfields Global Managing Partner Alan Mason called it part of a multi-year strategic partnership; Williams & Connolly's Joe Petrosinelli said the firm will use it to streamline litigation workflow. Consulting partners include Accenture, Deloitte, KPMG, Devoteam, Eudia, Factor Law, Tribe AI, Valtech, Zencore and 66degrees.
