AI Is The Real Job
Cook professionalized Apple's supply chain and services machine. Ternus inherits memory-price inflation, China exposure, and an Apple Intelligence strategy that has, so far, lived mostly in on-device features rather than frontier models. Apple has already reorganized its AI and Siri leadership and started rebuilding Siri on top of Google's Gemini after internal LLM efforts stalled — a decision that reportedly triggered departures inside the LLM team. What This Means For Physical AI
For the robotics ecosystem, Ternus' promotion is a straightforward accelerant. Apple has been developing a $1,000-class tabletop robotic-arm iPad-like display for two years, and the Vision Pro line — code-named N224 for its next generation — is now explicitly conditional on Ternus' read of head-worn category traction. Apple has cut Vision Pro roles across gaming, immersive video, security, audio engineering and Siri integration, while doubling down on smart glasses that share the Vision OS platform. Together with camera AirPods, the pendant and a home robot display, Apple is preparing what looks like a physical-AI portfolio to sit alongside the phone.
Governance
