Chinese LiDAR and robotics-sensing supplier LDROBOT closed its first day on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange with a 103% gain and a roughly $2.4 billion market capitalisation, one of the strongest robotics debuts of the year so far.

What Listed

LDROBOT designs consumer-grade LiDAR sensors used in sweeping robots, service robots and autonomous mobile robots. The Shenzhen-based company has shipped millions of units to OEM customers and is positioning the IPO proceeds toward higher-resolution sensors for outdoor mobility and automotive customers.

A Busy IPO Week

LDROBOT was one of four companies to complete public market debuts in early May 2026, alongside Compass in Brazil, Yushi Technology in China and JustCo in Singapore. The four debuts together carried a disclosed market cap of roughly $6.45 billion, according to deal tracker InforCapital.

Why Investors Cared

Analysts said the day-one pop reflects how thin investor exposure to robotics hardware remains in public markets. With humanoid and autonomous robotics moving from prototype to deployment, institutions are paying up for picks-and-shovels suppliers — LiDAR, vision, batteries, actuators — in the same way they did for semiconductor equipment in the last AI cycle. What’s Next

A deep pre-IPO pipeline including StepFun’s $2.5 billion pre-IPO round and Senasic’s cleared HKEX hearing suggests the listing window will stay open through Q2 2026. Unitree Robotics’ Shanghai STAR Market application is also under review and could be the next major robotics debut.
