LG And Nvidia Ink Physical AI Pact To Build Isaac GR00T Humanoid For Q1 2027 Debut

LG Corp. Chairman and CEO Kwang Mo Koo and Nvidia founder Jensen Huang signed a memorandum of understanding at Nvidia's Santa Clara headquarters on August 13 to broaden the two groups' physical AI collaboration. The deal spans a next-generation humanoid robot targeted for a Q1 2027 unveiling, factory robotics deployments, robotics data infrastructure, an AI factory buildout and a new automotive computing platform.

Humanoid Runs On Jetson Thor, Isaac GR00T And Halos

LG's forthcoming humanoid will use Nvidia Jetson Thor for onboard compute, Isaac GR00T as its open humanoid foundation model, and Nvidia Halos for Robotics as its safety framework. Under a "One LG" approach, actuators, sensors and batteries will come from LG Electronics, LG Innotek and LG Energy Solution. Applications, production schedule and commercial availability were not disclosed.

CLOi Wheeled Robots Get Tennessee Factory Trial

A humanoid robot on a manufacturing floor — LG will trial CLOi wheeled robots inside a Tennessee washing-machine plant.

Beyond the humanoid, LG will deploy its CLOi wheel-based robots inside an LG Electronics washing-machine plant in Tennessee later this year to stress-test them in live manufacturing before broader factory, home and commercial rollouts. The pair are also building robotics data pipelines around LG CNS's PhysicalWorks platform for on-site data collection, synthetic data generation, model training and verification. That data will feed both Isaac GR00T and LG's own Robot Foundation Model, which is under active development.

AI Factory And Vehicle Computing Extend The Deal

LG plans to combine its data-center engineering muscle with Nvidia's DSX AI factory architecture, standing up a reference AI factory on Nvidia's Vera Rubin platform in H1 2027 and an 80 MW facility in Cheonan, South Korea, by H1 2028 to train physical AI and robot foundation models. A next-generation vehicle computing platform on Nvidia DRIVE Hyperion is also on the roadmap. The MoU lands on the same day as Nvidia's expanding humanoid ecosystem push — a slate that already includes Apollo-linked work at Google DeepMind and Chinese entrants like BYD's Xiao Di.
