L&T Semiconductor Technologies, the fabless chip arm of Larsen & Toubro, unveiled a 40-product portfolio at SEMICON India 2026 on September 18, spanning power electronics, secure identity, embedded vision and AI-oriented compute. The launch — the largest single-day product drop by any Indian chip company to date — anchors LTSCT as a cornerstone of India's push to grow its own end-to-end semiconductor stack.
40 Chips, One SiC Debut
The catalogue includes LTSCT's first fully in-India-designed 1200V silicon-carbide MOSFET platform, aimed at EV fast chargers, traction inverters, microgrids and industrial motor drives — a market where China and Wolfspeed have dominated. LTSCT also introduced a BLDC motor controller, a vision camera SoC with on-chip AI acceleration, a secure-identity platform for e-passports and payment cards, USB-C GaN chargers, and a family of MOSFETs, diodes and rectifiers for automotive and industrial use.
Sovereign Silicon Ambitions
"India's next growth chapter will be driven as much by digital technologies as by megastructures," LTSCT chief executive Dr. Sandeep Kumar said in a statement, framing the launch as a sovereign-capacity play across national security, digital sovereignty and energy resilience. LTSCT was carved out of Larsen & Toubro's engineering business in 2024 and has since staffed design centres in Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad and begun tape-outs with global foundry partners.
Fits The Semicon 2.0 Push
The unveil lands the same week as India's SEMICON India 2026, which opened with roughly ₹1 lakh crore in industry pledges, 11 MoUs and a $13.5 billion national mission. It also comes as the newly reported India Deep Tech Alliance is funneling capital into semi, quantum and robotics startups. Together the moves signal a coordinated push to slot Indian silicon into global EV, telecom and defense supply chains within the decade.
