Micron Technology on August 13 launched the Micron Ventures Paradigm Fund, a $250 million corporate venture vehicle aimed at partnering with startups that will shape the next wave of AI infrastructure, model architectures and physical AI. It is Micron Ventures' third and largest fund, bringing the group's total capital commitments to $550 million.
Betting Across The Full AI Stack
The Boise-based memory maker said the Paradigm Fund will invest across four interconnected domains: AI model architecture and data infrastructure, compute (including in-memory compute and next-generation networking), enterprise AI applications such as semiconductor design and manufacturing, and physical AI covering robotics and new device form factors.
"We're in an exciting era of paradigm shifts, each one redefining what AI can do and what it requires," said Rene Hartner, vice president of corporate development at Micron. "These advancements converge on one common need: high-performance memory and storage solutions." The pitch to founders is straightforward: earlier access to Micron's roadmap, and a partner with visibility into where DRAM, NAND and HBM bandwidth will actually go.
A Third Fund As HBM Demand Explodes
The Paradigm Fund follows Fund I (launched 2019) and Fund II (2022), which is still deploying capital. It arrives as Micron's data-center memory business surges on demand for high-bandwidth memory tied to Nvidia and AMD accelerators, an environment that has also driven SK Group and NVIDIA's $500B AI factory partnership and a wave of memory-fab expansions.

Physical AI Gets A Named Bucket
Notably, physical AI, robotics and new device form factors are called out as a dedicated investment lane, sitting alongside pure-software AI and infrastructure bets. That mirrors a broader corporate-VC push into humanoids and embodied AI seen in deals like Project Prometheus' $12B round and Avatar Robotics' teleoperated humanoid seed.
Micron said the fund will invest "across stages," and framed the strategy as both defensive and offensive: a bet on which architectures survive, and a way to lock in future demand for its memory and storage before startups scale.
