UK-headquartered AI security firm Mindgard on August 12, 2026 announced a $30 million Series A led by Album VC, with participation from Karma Ventures and existing investors .406 Ventures, Atlantic Bridge, IQ Capital and Lakestar. The round takes total funding raised to roughly $42 million.
From Lancaster research to enterprise AI defense
Founded in 2022 and spun out of more than a decade of AI security research at Lancaster University, Mindgard is based in London and Boston. Its platform maps the attack surface across AI agents, models and applications, delivering automated red-teaming, continuous testing and runtime protection. CEO James Brear says the goal is to "operationalize expertise, turning the knowledge of leading AI security researchers and offensive security practitioners into the capabilities every enterprise needs to secure their AI."
150+ disclosed AI vulnerabilities
Mindgard says its platform has uncovered and publicly disclosed more than 150 high-impact vulnerabilities in widely used AI products, including a zero-day code execution flaw in Cursor IDE and security defects in Google Antigravity and ChatGPT. The company markets across financial services, digital services, gaming, healthcare, pharmaceuticals and semiconductors, and will use the Series A to scale product, engineering, sales and marketing.
Riding the AI security funding wave
The deal follows a busy stretch of AI security financings, including Cytix's €6M Series A for change risk management and Anthropic's Frontier Red Team disclosures on multi-agent risk. Investors are betting that AI-native attackers and defenders alike will need a dedicated tooling layer as the technology reshapes enterprise attack surfaces.
