Precision Neuroscience Closes $250M Series D Led By Pershing Square

Precision Neuroscience, the brain-computer interface company founded by ex-Neuralink co-founder Benjamin Rapoport, raised an oversubscribed $250M Series D led by Bill Ackman's Pershing Square as it prepares its FDA-cleared Layer 7 Cortical Interface for commercialisation.

Precision Neuroscience Closes $250M Series D Led By Pershing Square

Brain-computer interface (BCI) startup Precision Neuroscience closed an oversubscribed $250 million Series D on September 24, 2026, led by Bill Ackman's Pershing Square Inc., the Ackman Oxman Institute and an undisclosed life-sciences fund - taking the New York company's total capital raised to about $430 million.

Layer 7 cortical interface heads for commercial scale

Precision was founded in 2021 by former Neuralink co-founder Benjamin Rapoport, Michael Mager and colleagues. Its Layer 7 Cortical Interface is a flexible thin-film array - roughly one-fifth the thickness of a human hair - that sits on the surface of the brain and records neural activity across 4,096 electrodes without penetrating tissue. The device has received U.S. FDA clearance and is designed to be safely removable and high-bandwidth.

Where the money goes

CEO Michael Mager said the company will use the proceeds to expand its clinical program, advance Layer 7 through the next stages of FDA review and build the infrastructure needed for commercialisation. Precision's clinical pipeline targets stroke recovery, paralysis and other neurological indications, in a market that has been reset by SPAC-era stumbles at competitors and by Neuralink's own iterative rollout.

The investor lineup

Duquesne Family Office, B Capital, ARK Invest, Invus, Mubadala Capital, Mirae Asset Capital, Korea Investment Partners, Hitachi Ventures and JSL Health Capital joined the round alongside Pershing Square. The Pershing Square-Ackman Oxman anchor is a rare public bet on a private neurotech company and pairs with recent capital flowing into rival AI-native life-sciences and BCI startups.

The raise lands the same week the FDA and CMS advanced discussions on reimbursement pathways for high-bandwidth neural implants and just days after fellow neurotech company Bioservo fitted its 100th U.S. veteran with an assistive-grip glove. Precision's Series D is one of the largest single BCI cheques on record and cements Pershing Square as an increasingly active investor in physical AI and medtech.
