Qualcomm Launches Dragonfly Brand For Data Center Chips, Details June 24

Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon used his Computex 2026 keynote to introduce Dragonfly, a new brand for the company's upcoming data center CPUs, AI accelerators and ASICs ahead of a deeper reveal at the 2026 Investor Day on June 24.

Qualcomm Launches Dragonfly Brand For Data Center Chips, Details June 24

Qualcomm has officially put a brand name on its long-promised push into the data center: Dragonfly. CEO Cristiano Amon unveiled the new brand at the tail end of his Computex 2026 keynote in Taipei, framing it as the third pillar of Qualcomm's compute portfolio alongside Snapdragon for client devices and Dragonwing for IoT, embedded and robotics silicon. Detailed product disclosures will follow at the Qualcomm 2026 Investor Day on June 24.

Dragonfly Covers CPUs, AI Accelerators And Custom ASICs

Qualcomm says Dragonfly will span three categories of data center silicon: server-grade CPUs built on its Oryon CPU cores, AI inference accelerators in the Cloud AI lineage, and customer-specific ASICs for hyperscale workloads. The CPU project remains light on public details, but Qualcomm has already telegraphed its accelerator roadmap with the AI200 due later this year and the larger AI250 following in 2027, both pitched as rack-scale, high-memory inference systems rather than single-card products.

Why The New Brand Now

Qualcomm has spent the past two years telling investors that data center silicon is core to the company's long-term diversification away from smartphones. Amon told investors after Computex that Qualcomm believes it can still hit its $22 billion non-handset revenue target by fiscal 2029, even as NVIDIA's RTX Spark moves into Qualcomm's PC turf. Creating a dedicated Dragonfly brand separates the data center story from Snapdragon's client message and lets Qualcomm market server, accelerator and custom-ASIC products as a coherent compute platform for hyperscalers and sovereign AI buyers.

What To Watch On June 24

The Computex reveal was explicitly a teaser. Qualcomm has now committed to using its 2026 Investor Day on June 24 to put concrete names, target market segments and likely a first customer or two against the Dragonfly brand. Reports out of Taiwan suggest the first Dragonfly ASIC will ship later this year to a hyperscaler customer in China, alongside the existing Dragonwing edge AI lineup and Qualcomm's broader automotive Snapdragon Digital Chassis push.
