Ukraine has unveiled Sea Trident, a heavy autonomous underwater drone designed to carry large payloads across long-range maritime missions, at the Eurosatory 2026 defense exhibition in Paris. Presented by Ukrainian developer Global Mark on June 15, the unmanned system signals a new step in Kyiv's rapidly expanding portfolio of naval robotics.
A 10-tonne autonomous underwater vehicle
Sea Trident weighs roughly 10,000 kilograms and measures 10 meters long, 2 meters wide and 1.5 meters high. According to specifications shown at the exhibition, it can carry payloads of up to 1,000 kilograms over a maximum range of 2,000 nautical miles, cruising at 6 knots and reaching a top speed of 10 knots. The drone can operate at depths of up to 60 meters while its low-profile hull lets it travel close to the surface when required.
Built for strike, logistics and counter-drone roles
Global Mark says Sea Trident is intended for strike missions against strategic targets, but also for logistics, cargo delivery and the interception of other unmanned underwater vehicles. Equipped with autonomous navigation and adaptive control systems, the platform is designed to conduct extended missions with minimal operator involvement, and its low-observable design is meant to help it penetrate contested maritime areas undetected.
Part of a wider Ukrainian naval robotics push
Sea Trident joins a growing family of Ukrainian unmanned maritime systems, from underwater drones such as Marichka and Toloka to surface vessels revealed alongside it in Paris. The unveiling at Eurosatory underscores how unmanned underwater and surface platforms have become central to Kyiv's strategy of contesting larger naval forces with cheaper, autonomous systems.
The reveal also fits the broader Eurosatory 2026 theme of distributed, autonomous warfare on display across the show, from AeroVironment's backpackable Telerob TOM-50 RE ground robot to Teledyne FLIR's Black Recon micro-drone system. As counter-drone and counter-UUV capabilities mature, exemplified by European C2 counter-drone hubs, platforms like Sea Trident point to an underwater dimension of the same autonomous-systems race.
