Supabase has closed a $500 million Series F at a $10.5 billion post-money valuation, the Postgres-based backend startup announced on June 4, just eight months after its Series E. The round was led by Singapore’s GIC, with Stripe doubling down for its second investment, Salesforce Ventures joining as a new backer, and existing investors Accel, Y Combinator, Craft, Felicis, Peak XV and Coatue rolling forward. Total capital raised now exceeds $1 billion.
Vibe Coding Drove A 600% Database Surge
The growth story is AI-assisted software development. Co-founder and CEO Paul Copplestone said Supabase’s user base has more than doubled since its Series E and that the company has seen a 600% year-over-year increase in databases provisioned. The bulk of that traffic now arrives from agents — Claude Code, OpenAI’s Codex, Cursor and similar tools that spin up backends on demand for ‘vibe coders’ who describe an application in natural language and let the agent build it. Anthropic’s Claude Code is Supabase’s single largest contributor of new databases since the start of the year.

Multigres Is The Hyperscale Bet
Alongside the raise, Supabase previewed Multigres, a new horizontal-scaling layer intended to let customers on its open-source Postgres stack ‘scale up to the size of OpenAI or even larger.’ Accel partner Arun Mathew called the tool the most impressive part of the company’s roadmap, noting that historically databases have struggled to scale from a single developer’s prototype to the largest enterprise applications without rewrites. Multigres targets that gap directly and slots in alongside Supabase’s existing AI-developer toolkit, which includes pgvector for embeddings, Edge Functions for serverless JavaScript, and a managed Python client for vector-search workflows.
A Direct Challenge To MongoDB And AWS Aurora
Founded in 2020, Supabase has crossed 250,000 active developers and now employs more than 350 people. The company positions itself as the open-source alternative to Firebase and a direct competitor to MongoDB and Amazon Web Services’ Postgres-based Aurora. Mathew described the company’s growth rate as ‘phenomenal’ — ‘we haven’t seen a company grow at this pace, certainly in the database layer, ever before.’ With agents now writing software in the same loop they query data, Supabase is betting the database layer becomes the most valuable real estate in the agentic stack.
The Wider AI-Infra Wave
The round lands in a week of mega-rounds for AI infrastructure. We covered Ramp’s $750M Series F at $44B, the latest Snowflake-Anthropic enterprise expansion in Snowflake’s deepened $200M pact with Anthropic, and NVIDIA’s Vera CPU launch for agentic AI earlier this week — capital is still clustering around the picks-and-shovels layer powering the next generation of AI applications.
