Walmart and Alphabet-owned Wing switched on drone delivery at two Central Florida Supercenters on July 29, 2026 — the retailer's first Florida deployment and its biggest single-market Wing expansion to date. More than 50,000 homes, businesses and apartments in and around Apopka and Clermont can now order small items and receive them in as fast as 30 minutes.
Two Nests, One Metro
Deliveries fly from Walmart Supercenters on South Orange Blossom Trail in Apopka and Johns Lake Road in Clermont, both retrofitted with Wing's rooftop 'Nest' launch pads. The autonomous aircraft carry up to 2.5 pounds of cargo and lower packages from about 23 feet using a tether system, so the drone itself never lands in customers' yards.
Central Florida Just The Start
Walmart and Wing said additional Central Florida supercenters in Ocoee, Clermont and Haines City will follow within weeks. Longer term, the two companies plan a network of more than 270 Walmart stores offering drone delivery by the end of 2027, extending the service that first went live in the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex.
A Consolidating Delivery Stack
Walmart already runs commercial drone programs with Wing, Zipline and Alphabet spinout DroneUp, positioning drones alongside Spark, Walmart+ and store-based fulfillment. The Florida launch mirrors a broader U.S. push, with rivals such as DoorDash rolling out its own in-house drone operation and Zipline flying prescription medicines for Cleveland Clinic.
