X Square Robot Raises $276M Series B from Xiaomi and Sequoia China

X Square Robot, a Beijing-based embodied AI startup founded in late 2023, has closed a roughly $276 million Series B funding round – the largest disclosed Chinese humanoid raise this quarter. The round was co-led by Xiaomi and Sequoia China (HongShan), with participation from ByteDance, Meituan and Alibaba.

Riding the WALL-B foundation model

The new capital arrives weeks after X Square unveiled WALL-B, a multimodal embodied-AI foundation model the company says can plan and execute long-horizon household tasks from a single natural-language instruction. CEO Wang Qian claims early WALL-B robots will be inside customer homes within 35 days of the funding announcement, starting with trial users in Beijing and Shanghai.

An unusually deep cap table

The round is notable for assembling three of China''s biggest internet conglomerates – ByteDance, Meituan and Alibaba – alongside Xiaomi''s industrial network. Cumulative funding for X Square has now passed $400 million in less than 18 months, putting it on the same fundraising trajectory as Western peers like Skild AI and Apptronik.

Competitive landscape

The Chinese humanoid race has accelerated sharply in 2026. Unitree cleared its STAR Market IPO listing committee earlier this week, while Robotera raised more than $200 million for logistics deployments. X Square is positioning WALL-B differently, focused on consumer households rather than factory or warehouse contracts.

What the money buys

X Square says the new funding will scale manufacturing capacity, expand its data-collection pipeline for home environments and accelerate hiring across embodied-AI research. The company is reportedly also exploring Hong Kong and Southeast Asia rollouts in 2027.
