Rebellions, a South Korean designer of AI inference accelerators, has closed a $400 million pre-IPO funding round at a valuation of about $2.34 billion, cementing its status as the centerpiece of Seoul's drive to build a domestic semiconductor champion.

Korea's K-Nvidia champion

The round was led by Mirae Asset Financial Group and the Korea National Growth Fund — a public-private program for strategic AI and semiconductor industries that chose Rebellions as its very first investment under the "K-Nvidia" initiative. The raise follows a $250 million Series C in September 2025, bringing total funding to $850 million, with more than 75% of that capital secured in the past six months.

From silicon to full systems

Alongside the financing, Rebellions launched RebelRack and RebelPOD — vertically integrated, deployable AI infrastructure built on its chiplet-based Rebel100 NPU. The company has built a cloud-native, Kubernetes-based software stack designed to work natively with open-source tools including vLLM, PyTorch, Triton and Hugging Face, betting that open ecosystems, not silicon alone, will define the inference era.

US expansion and an IPO ahead

Backed by Samsung, SK Hynix, Aramco and Arm, Rebellions plans to use the funds to expand in the United States — led by new chief business officer Marshall Choy — as it prepares for a future public offering. The company competes with Nvidia and inference rivals from Groq to Cerebras, part of a global chip race also driving Nvidia's Vera Rubin ramp, Chinese efforts like Alibaba's Zhenwu M890, and memory innovations such as Google's TurboQuant.
