Accenture (NYSE: ACN) has agreed to acquire Industries eXcellence Group ("IndX"), a division of Italy's Engineering Group and a long-standing partner of Siemens Digital Industries, in a deal announced June 17, 2026 that deepens Accenture's manufacturing software and automation capabilities.

Strengthening the Accenture Siemens Business Group

Headquartered in Rome and Chicago, IndX brings more than 650 professionals and proven expertise in Siemens software for discrete and process manufacturers. It specializes in digital-thread solutions that connect engineering, manufacturing and automation across IT and operational technology — from product lifecycle management, simulation and digital twins to SCADA, industrial edge computing and cloud. The team is expected to support the Accenture Siemens Business Group, a global practice formed in 2025.

Industrial AI as the prize

"Manufacturers are increasingly investing in software, data and AI to make engineering and factory operations more flexible, intelligent and connected," said Tracey Countryman, Accenture's global supply chain and engineering lead. Tony Hemmelgarn, president and CEO of Siemens Digital Industries Software, called the acquisition "a milestone for the Accenture Siemens Business Group." Accenture plans to open two new Centers of Excellence for Siemens DI solutions in Italy and India.

A consolidating automation market

Terms were not disclosed, and completion is subject to customary closing conditions. The deal lands amid brisk consolidation across robotics, automation and AI, alongside transactions such as MDA Space's purchase of Blue Canyon Technologies, AMD's acquisition of Mext and Bear Robotics' acquisition of Kinisi.
