Amazon.com on September 23, 2026 opened its Seller Central toolset to third-party AI agents for the first time, launching a new plugin that brings the retailer's Seller Assistant into Anthropic's Claude and Amazon's own Amazon Quick assistant.
Persistent Memory Across Seller Central And Claude
The plugin gives sellers a persistent, cross-app view of their Amazon business inside Claude. Once installed, Claude and Amazon Quick can pull real-time performance metrics, inventory levels, pricing and sales analytics, remember a merchant's growth goals across conversations, and place structured actions back into Seller Central with full audit trails and seller-defined guardrails.
Aimed At An Audience Already Using External AI
Amazon says more than 90% of its selling partners worldwide already use third-party AI tools, and hundreds of thousands are active users of Seller Assistant. The company claims sellers accept its Seller Assistant recommendations more than 90% of the time. To sweeten the launch, primary account holders globally get a free 12-month Amazon Quick Plus subscription through December 31, 2026, plus two co-worker seats.
A Different Model For Retail-AI Integration
The move signals a shift from Amazon keeping seller data inside its walled garden to actively distributing it to rival agents. "I used to spend hours manually connecting my Amazon data to AI tools. Now it's all built in," said James Oliver, founder of Atlas Bar and an Amazon seller. "What took an afternoon now happens instantly."
The launch adds Amazon to a wave of enterprise-AI integrations for Claude, alongside Novo Nordisk's Claude Science partnership and Anthropic's own autonomous biology discoveries. It also fits Amazon's broader pattern of shipping agentic layers on top of its retail infrastructure alongside Claude Opus 5.5.
