AMPIN Energy Transition has reached financial close on a USD 195 million long-term green project-finance facility for a 100 MW power-purchase-agreement (PPA) hybrid renewable project in Andhra Pradesh, SolarQuarter reported on August 20, 2026. The plant will combine solar, wind and battery energy storage (BESS) to deliver dispatchable clean power during peak demand.
SMBC and Rabobank lead the debt stack
Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation and Rabobank acted as Mandated Lead Arrangers, Green Loan Coordinators and Joint Structuring Banks. The facility was structured in accordance with the Green Loan Principles and the Equator Principles, and advised by HSF Kramer, JSA Advocates, Aurora Energy Research and Tractebel.
Hybrid PPA built for dispatchable peaks
The 100 MW contracted capacity stitches together renewable generation with co-located BESS to ride through solar and wind intermittency and deliver firm output during evening demand peaks - a design increasingly favoured under India's peak-power tariffs. Pinaki Bhattacharyya, AMPIN's founder, MD and CEO, called the close "an important milestone" and said the facility will support the deployment of hybrid infrastructure aligned with India's clean-energy goals.
Storage-backed hybrids move mainstream
SMBC's Jeanne Soh and Rabobank's Amardeep Parmar both flagged the deal as a signal of the growing maturity of India's storage-backed hybrid segment. The close follows Enel's 100 MW grid-forming battery start at Finis Terrae in Chile and this week's EDF/NV Energy Winston 400 MW solar-plus-storage PPAs, and comes as India's renewables share crossed 43.4% in July with solar past 165 GW.
