Elastic has closed the deal it announced in July. On August 24, 2026 the NYSE-listed Search AI company (ESTC) confirmed the completion of its acquisition of Deductive AI, an agentic site-reliability-engineering startup whose investigation platform automates production-incident root-cause analysis for engineering teams.
What Deductive AI Brings
Deductive AI, founded in 2023 by CEO Rakesh Kothari and cofounder Sameer Agarwal, built an AI SRE agent that connects to a customer's code, telemetry streams, and internal knowledge sources. The agent gathers evidence, forms and tests hypotheses across signals, and reasons over context to explain what happened, why, and what to do next. Every investigation is retained, so future runs benefit from past reasoning paths — a knowledge-graph pattern that turns triage into a compounding asset.
Why It Matters For Elastic Observability
Modern applications produce more telemetry than any human operator can hope to review. Elastic already applies AI to infer entities, relationships and operational events from logs, metrics, and traces; Deductive AI adds the investigation layer on top. Combined, the stack promises to compress mean-time-to-resolution for outages by handing tier-1 and tier-2 investigations to an agent, with human engineers only invoked when the agent's confidence dips.
The Agentic Observability Race
The deal accelerates an emerging observability arms race. Datadog and New Relic have been building similar agentic investigation features in-house, while Obsidian Security's $85M Series D and Zenity's $125M Series C show that investor appetite for agent-safe operational tooling has not cooled. Elastic's move buys the capability instead of building it, and buys it before Deductive AI's post-Series-A traction lifted the price.
Financial Frame
Terms were not officially disclosed, but earlier reports pegged the transaction at roughly $85 million — a small check for Elastic, which last quarter reported record cloud revenue and free-cash-flow generation. Existing Deductive AI customers will continue to receive support while integration plans firm up, with product roadmap details promised in the coming months.
