Figure AI has manufactured its 1,000th Figure 03 humanoid at its BotQ facility, the California-based robotics startup said on July 23, 2026. CEO Brett Adcock marked the milestone by unveiling a special golden-finished unit posed with the Figure workforce — a visual departure from the fleet's charcoal-grey and white finishes that immediately drew C-3PO comparisons.
Production Tripled Since April
Crossing the four-figure mark represents a dramatic acceleration for BotQ. In late April 2026, Figure announced it had scaled BotQ throughput to one robot per hour and had built roughly 350 Figure 03 units to date. Roughly three months later, the total has almost tripled — evidence that the custom manufacturing execution system (MES), tooled processes and vertically-integrated supply chain Figure built for the Figure 03 can sustain high-volume output over time. The company's stated ceiling for the first-generation line is 12,000 humanoids per year, and Adcock has said the long-term target is an annual production capacity of 50,000 units.
Designed for Mass Manufacturability
The Figure 03 was engineered specifically for high-volume production, a pivot away from the lower-volume, CNC-machined processes that defined the now-retired Figure 02 generation. The current architecture leans on die-casting, injection molding, metal injection molding and stamping — tooled processes that Figure says cut manufacturing cost by roughly 90% versus its predecessor. Figure also stood up dedicated safety and reliability teams inside BotQ to run accelerated lifecycle tests on actuators and other high-wear components as volume rises.
Closing the Gap on China — and Feeding the Data Flywheel
For a Western firm, 1,000 identical humanoid platforms in the field is a formidable number, but it also highlights the scale required to compete globally. Shanghai-based AgiBot rolled out its 15,000th robot in June 2026, and Unitree reported over 5,500 humanoid shipments in 2025. The bigger prize for Figure, though, is the training data those 1,000 fielded robots will generate — the company has already returned to BMW's Spartanburg plant to run Figure 03 units on complex logistics-sequencing tasks, feeding real-world edge cases back into the Helix autonomy model.
