Mobile-robot orchestration company InOrbit.AI on September 15 released OpenRobOps, an open-source robot operations and fleet management platform that ships as the industry's first reference implementation of the ISO 21423 interoperability standard for industrial mobile robots.
Solving Robotics' Build Trap
OpenRobOps (ORO) is available under an Apache 2.0 license and targets what CEO Florian Pestoni calls the industry's "build trap" - the tendency for every robot deployment to reinvent fleet management from scratch. The stack delivers high-throughput telemetry ingest designed for unreliable networks, real-time spatial tracking with interactive maps and live camera views, Configuration-as-Code (CaC) so telemetry pipelines can be checked into Git CI/CD workflows, automated incident remediation with anomaly detection and autonomous recovery, and an edge-to-cloud hybrid architecture for on-premises, air-gapped or cloud deployments.
Standardizing Multi-Vendor Fleets
The core promise is portability across robot brands. OpenRobOps includes native Open-RMF interoperability plus built-in multi-fleet adapters and delivers the first ISO 21423 reference implementation - the standard sets communication and data-exchange rules between industrial mobile robots and fleet managers, letting operators mix vendors without one-off integrations. "With OpenRobOps, we are helping take this from theory to market practice," said Pestoni.

Why Now
Warehouses and factories running dozens of AMRs, autonomous forklifts and delivery robots have complained for years that every new brand requires new dashboards, new alerting and new logic. Making InOrbit's core fleet stack open source pushes ISO 21423 toward a de-facto standard just as Universal Robots' new Gen 7 platform, Agility Robotics' Digit 5 and NVIDIA's Cosmos physical-AI stack accelerate multi-vendor deployments. The move also plants InOrbit's flag against closed fleet-manager ecosystems from the largest AMR OEMs and cloud providers.
