Keenon Puts XMAN-R1 Humanoid To Work Alongside Service Robots At WAIC 2026

Global service-robot shipments leader Keenon Robotics deploys its XMAN-R1 humanoid alongside DINERBOT T9 delivery bots in a live hotel-laundry scenario at WAIC 2026, staking out a 'general-purpose humanoid + specialized service robot' strategy.

Keenon Puts XMAN-R1 Humanoid To Work Alongside Service Robots At WAIC 2026

Keenon Robotics used the World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) 2026 in Shanghai this weekend to move its humanoid ambitions from a stage demo to a working commercial scenario, sending its XMAN-R1 bipedal robot into a mocked-up hotel laundry room alongside its DINERBOT T9 delivery robots.

Humanoid + specialized fleet, working together

The Shanghai-based company, which IDC ranked first worldwide in commercial service robot shipments in 2025, framed its WAIC booth as a live proof point for a "general-purpose humanoid + specialized service robot" strategy. In the hotel scenario, XMAN-R1 loaded and operated washing machines, retrieved clean laundry and folded garments, while a DINERBOT T9 handled the delivery workflow around it. Together the two robots showed how Keenon plans to divide labor between a flexible humanoid and its established fleet of purpose-built machines rather than pitting the two form factors against each other.

Front-of-house tasks with NOWWA Coffee, dessert and retail

Beyond the laundry demo, Keenon pushed XMAN-R1 into front-of-house work. In partnership with China's NOWWA Coffee chain, the humanoid prepared drinks and handled customer requests in dessert and retail settings on the WAIC floor. Every task, Keenon said, ran autonomously and without teleoperation — a pointed contrast with several competing humanoid demos in Shanghai this week that lean on human puppeteering. The company said the WAIC deployment builds on years of customer telemetry from restaurants and shops that already run its KETTYBOT and DINERBOT lines.

From 100,000 service robots to a mixed humanoid fleet

Keenon says it has deployed more than 100,000 service robots across 70+ countries, with anchor customers including Burger King, Buffalo Wild Wings, Hilton, BMW and Lego. Some sites already push the multi-robot model hard: Hotel Around Pyeongchang runs 10-20+ robots, and Shangri-La's Trader Hotel operates a mixed fleet of eight robots across six types — a setup Keenon calls the world's first intelligent hotel with both humanoid and service robot workers.

WAIC 2026 has become the coming-out event for China's humanoid vendors, with AgiBot unveiling four new robots and mimic Robotics debuting its M1 hand earlier this week. Keenon's angle is less about a headline hardware reveal than about slotting a humanoid into a fleet its customers already trust, following its earlier McDonald's humanoid pilot in Shanghai.
