Dutch photonic quantum computing firm QuiX Quantum has opened commercial availability of Alquor 2.0, a rack-mountable silicon-nitride photonic processor in 8-, 20- and 32-mode versions.

Dutch photonic quantum computing company QuiX Quantum has opened commercial availability of Alquor 2.0, a rack-mountable silicon-nitride photonic processor that ships in 8-, 20- and 32-mode configurations for quantum optics, boson sampling and photonic quantum computing research.

From optical tables to a 3U rack

Alquor 2.0 is built into QuiX Quantum's new Photonic Assembly Control Unit (PACU) architecture and is designed to move researchers off manually aligned optical tables. The 3U 19-inch chassis pairs air cooling with current-driver electronics to cut electrical crosstalk between phase shifters, and exposes an Ethernet-connected Python interface for automated lab workflows.

Pricing and early-adopter program

Alquor 2.0 is priced at EUR 240,000 for the 8-mode system, EUR 490,000 for the 20-mode and EUR 790,000 for the 32-mode. QuiX Quantum is offering a 20% early-adopter discount to academic and public research institutions that order the 8-mode processor by 30 September 2026. The company says more than 20 Alquor systems have been deployed to date.

Alquor processors have already been used by teams at ENEA, Paderborn University, Freie Universität Berlin, NASA Ames, the University of Twente, University of Queensland and Fraunhofer IOF to run experiments spanning Gaussian boson sampling, photon distillation and deterministic Grover search. The launch adds to a productive week for the quantum sector, including D-Wave's dual-rail Nature paper and earlier coverage of QuiX Quantum's Carina universal photonic system.
