Snowflake and Anthropic on June 1, 2026 announced significant momentum in their strategic partnership at Snowflake Summit 26 in San Francisco, with Anthropic's Claude models becoming the workhorse engine inside Snowflake Cortex AI for more than 13,900 enterprise customers running on Amazon Bedrock, Google Cloud Vertex AI and Microsoft Azure.
From $200M deal to enterprise scale
The update builds on the multi-year, $200 million agreement the two companies signed in December 2025 to integrate Claude directly into Cortex AI and stand up a joint go-to-market motion. Snowflake EVP of Product Christian Kleinerman said Cortex Code, the coding agent powered by Claude, has become the fastest-growing product in Snowflake's history. Steve Corfield, Anthropic's Head of Global Business Development and Partnerships, framed the deal as enterprises wanting Claude to work directly on their governed data, not in isolated systems.
Where Claude lands inside the stack
Claude Sonnet 4.5 powers Snowflake Intelligence, the natural-language enterprise agent, while Claude Opus 4.5 was hosted by Snowflake on day one through Cortex AI Functions for querying text, images, audio and tabular data via SQL. Snowflake's Cortex Agents framework lets customers build production-ready data agents on top of Claude, and the company joined as one of six launch partners in the Claude Marketplace so enterprises can route existing Anthropic commitments through Snowflake.

Block, Carvana, eSentire and Notion deploy
Block engineering lead Arnaud Weber said the company is using Claude with Snowflake's governed data platform across Square, Cash App and Afterpay to investigate compliance and security issues in real time. Carvana, Indeed, eSentire, Basis and Notion all flagged Claude-on-Snowflake deployments for SOC analyst augmentation, marketing automation, self-service analytics and the in-product Data Scout agent. Snowflake said Claude hits greater than 90% accuracy on complex text-to-SQL on Snowflake's internal benchmarks.
Why this matters for governed AI
The expansion lands as governed enterprise AI is reshaping the industry's biggest data partnerships, alongside Snowflake's $6B agentic AI commitment to AWS, the Anthropic confidential S-1 IPO filing, and the OpenRouter Series B for AI inference. Snowflake also flagged collaboration on Claude Code Security capabilities to identify, assess and remediate vulnerabilities with human oversight.
