Agility Robotics Opens 60,000 Sq Ft Fremont Physical AI Hub For Digit

Agility Robotics has opened a 60,000-square-foot Physical AI development hub in Fremont, California to train its Digit humanoid ahead of its planned Nasdaq listing via a $2.5 billion SPAC merger with Churchill Capital Corp XI.

Agility Robotics Opens 60,000 Sq Ft Fremont Physical AI Hub For Digit

Agility Robotics on July 16, 2026 opened a 60,000-square-foot Physical AI development hub in Fremont, California — the humanoid-robotics company's new Bay Area software and capabilities headquarters, dedicated to training, testing and advancing the AI systems that power its bipedal Digit robot ahead of a planned Nasdaq listing.

Silicon Valley Engineering Complement To RoboFab

The Fremont facility complements Agility's existing RoboFab manufacturing plant in Salem, Oregon, which is scaled to produce up to 10,000 Digit units per year. Agility will hire nearly 200 professionals across AI/ML software engineering, machine learning and field operations at the new hub. "Being in the heart of Silicon Valley brings us into one of the world's leading AI talent and innovation ecosystems, allowing us to develop new capabilities for Digit faster and put them to work for customers immediately," said CEO Peggy Johnson. Fremont Mayor Raj Salwan welcomed the roughly 200 high-quality jobs and the manufacturing-and-robotics investment.

$300M In Digit V5 Orders, 65,000 Operating Hours

Agility says it has secured more than $300 million in multi-year Digit v5 orders, subject to contractual milestones, and that Digit has logged over 65,000 operating hours across nine customer facilities. Active enterprise deployments include Schaeffler, GXO, Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada and Mercado Libre — use cases that are increasingly leaning on the sort of continuous-learning AI pipeline the Fremont hub is intended to feed.

Nasdaq Listing Countdown Via Churchill Capital SPAC

The hub opening is the physical footprint of Agility's announced $2.5 billion SPAC merger with Churchill Capital Corp XI (NASDAQ: CCXI), which is expected to make Agility the first publicly listed US pure-play humanoid robotics company under the ticker AGLT. Toronto-listed Humanoid Global Holdings Corp. (CSE: ROBO), a minority equity holder, reiterated its support for the deal in a July 28 update, framing it as a "watershed moment" for the sector.

Race For Physical AI Talent Intensifies

The Fremont opening lands as competition for humanoid AI engineering escalates. Within the past two weeks, Humanoid AI raised $152M at a $1.35B valuation to become Europe's first pure-play humanoid unicorn, and Walden Robotics exited stealth with a $300M seed. Agility's Bay Area push is a straightforward signal that the operational leader of humanoid-in-warehouse deployments intends to defend that lead with proximity to compute, capital and talent.
