Airbus used the ILA Berlin air show to unveil the U760 Ravenstorm, a 13-metre uncrewed collaborative combat aircraft (UCCA) targeted at service entry in the early 2030s, and relaunched its entire uncrewed aerial systems lineup under a new U-prefix naming convention.
Ravenstorm spans strike, air defence and EW
The Ravenstorm full-size model on display has a 10-metre wingspan and is flanked by MBDA Spear air-to-surface and Meteor beyond-visual-range air-to-air missiles. "Optimised for multi-domain missions, the UCCA's capabilities include air-to-surface strikes using precision-guided munitions, air-to-air defence with long- and medium-range anti-aircraft missiles, and electronic warfare for suppressing enemy air defences," Airbus said. The company described the portfolio as "one of Europe's most comprehensive and versatile uncrewed aerial systems portfolios."
U740 Valkyrie eyes 2029 German fielding
Airbus is also showing the U740 Valkyrie, a phased capability-build platform that combines a Kratos Defense airframe with Airbus's Multiplatform Autonomous Reconfigurable and Secure (MARS) mission system. The company is targeting a 2029 fielding with the German air force.
U145 cargo helicopter and U950 Eurodrone
The reveal also covered the U145, an uncrewed H145 derivative with clamshell nose doors for cargo, firefighting and air-launched effects, and the medium-altitude long-endurance U950 Eurodrone, which is on track for first flight in 2029 with potential roles spanning anti-submarine warfare and early warning. The light tactical U010 Aliaca, U030 Flexrotor and U050 Capa-X round out the family, alongside the U680 Bird of Prey armed drone interceptor.
The unveiling lands after Europe's Helsing pushed its CA-1 Europa UCAV programme and as the continent ramps up defence-tech investment and autonomous-platform spending.
