Apple WWDC 2026 Preview: Gemini-Powered Siri, AI Agents and Visual Intelligence

Apple's WWDC 2026 keynote opens June 8 with a heavily-leaked Siri overhaul running on Google Gemini, an AI agent store integration, and Visual Intelligence inside the Camera app.

Apple WWDC 2026 Preview: Gemini-Powered Siri, AI Agents and Visual Intelligence

Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference returns to Cupertino on June 8 with a keynote that, according to leaks compiled by TechCrunch on June 4, will be dominated by a long-promised Siri overhaul powered by Google's Gemini models, an AI agent integration with the App Store, and a new Visual Intelligence module inside the Camera app. The week-long developer event runs through June 12 and will livestream on the Apple Developer app, apple.com and YouTube.

Siri 2.0 Runs on Gemini

The most-anticipated reveal is a fully revamped Siri that finally delivers the multi-step, context-aware assistant Apple demoed at WWDC 2024 but spent two years rebuilding. Per Bloomberg leaks, the new Siri leans on Google's Gemini family for its frontier reasoning while keeping privacy-sensitive routing on-device, and Apple is preparing a standalone Siri app to take on ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini directly. A messaging-style auto-delete control for chat history — 30 days, one year or indefinite — is reportedly part of the package.

An AI Agent Store and Visual Intelligence

The Information has reported that Apple plans to introduce an AI agent integration with the App Store, letting users delegate tasks such as booking reservations, editing documents and controlling smart-home devices to third-party agents. Inside the Camera app, a dedicated Visual Intelligence mode — sitting alongside Photo, Video and Portrait — will use Google Image Search to identify objects in the viewfinder, while the Photos app gains intelligent scene suggestions, automatic object removal and natural-language editing.

Image Playground, Wallet and OS Updates

Apple is also expected to upgrade Image Playground with higher-quality generation, more artistic styles and better character consistency, plus suggested Genmoji based on a user's media and message context. Wallet rumors include bill-splitting from a photographed receipt and a Create a Pass tool for converting paper tickets into digital passes. Across macOS, iPadOS, visionOS, watchOS and tvOS, the headline theme is a tighter weave of AI features into existing apps.

WWDC 2026 follows months of escalating AI-platform jockeying — see Microsoft Project Solara, Microsoft's MAI-Code-1 and NVIDIA's RTX Spark superchip. Apple's pitch: privacy-preserving local inference plus a curated frontier model, finally working in concert.
