Centrus Energy has signed a new contract to enrich both low-enriched uranium and high-assay low-enriched uranium (HALEU) for X-energy, locking in the fuel supply for the developer's planned fleet of Xe-100 small modular reactors and TRISO-X fuel deployments. In return, X-energy will make prepayments that help Centrus expand its commercial enrichment capacity at the American Centrifuge Plant in Piketon, Ohio.
Building A Derisked Domestic Supply Chain
The deal is the latest in Centrus's push to underwrite its Piketon build-out through offtake prepayments, following a recent $900 million DOE task order for HALEU enrichment. CEO Amir Vexler said the X-energy agreement "validates Centrus as the go-to, derisked supplier of HALEU to the global market" and removes enrichment as a bottleneck for the advanced reactor community.
TRISO-X TX-1 Adds 70 Acres
In parallel, X-energy subsidiary TRISO-X has picked up roughly 70 acres adjacent to its TX-1 commercial fuel campus at the Horizon Center Industrial Park in Oak Ridge, Tennessee — pushing the site above 180 acres. TX-1 is the first Category II fuel cycle facility built in the United States and holds an NRC special nuclear material license for HALEU fabrication issued in February. A second facility, TX-2, is still in the design phase.

Layered Onto Dow, Amazon And Centrica
The Centrus contract layers on top of X-energy's existing commercial pipeline, which already includes a proposed Xe-100 project with Dow in Texas, a project with hyperscaler-adjacent Amazon in Washington state, and a UK partnership with Centrica.
