EUCLYD, a two-year-old AI chip startup from Eindhoven, has raised more than €200 million ($231 million) in a Series A that positions the company as one of Europe's most ambitious challengers to Nvidia's inference dominance. The round was announced on September 15, 2026.

Samsung anchors a heavyweight European syndicate

Samsung joined a syndicate that includes Somerset Capital Partners, EQT-managed Scaleup Europe Fund, Innovation Industries, Denmark's EIFO, imec.xpand, Brabant Development Agency and Quadri. Peter Wennink, the recently retired president and CEO of ASML, will chair EUCLYD's board — a signal that European sovereignty ambitions for AI silicon are finally translating into serious capital.

Craftwerk pairs ASIC compute with memory co-design

Founders Bernardo Kastrup (CEO) and Atul Sinha are building an ASIC-based inference architecture that co-designs compute and memory to attack the power, bandwidth and capital constraints of frontier model deployment. The company calls its stack "the world's first agentic AI silicon" and its rack-scale Craftwerk Station CWS 32 "the world's lowest-power exascale AI factory."

A European answer to the Nvidia stranglehold

"AI is becoming a foundation of economic growth, scientific discovery, and national competitiveness, but its potential will remain constrained unless we fundamentally change the infrastructure," Kastrup said. EUCLYD joins a wave of physical-AI investing that has driven European venture funding into semiconductors and inference to record levels this year, alongside deals such as Exein's $270M Series C and the Analog Devices–Alif deal.
