Figure AI says three of its Figure 03 humanoid robots have completed a 200-hour autonomous package-sorting run at the company's Sunnyvale headquarters, processing close to 250,000 parcels with zero hardware failures, according to a May 25 livestream from CEO Brett Adcock. The run, which began as a response to an 8-hour endurance challenge from industrial-automation veteran Dr. Scott Walter, is being read across the industry as the strongest public reliability data point yet for a humanoid platform aimed at warehouse work.

249,560 packages, no catastrophic failures

Three Figure 03 units, nicknamed Bob, Jim and Rose by online viewers, used onboard cameras and Figure's Helix-02 vision-language-action model to detect barcodes, pick up small packages and place them barcode-down on a conveyor. Figure says the bots reached near-human parity on sorting speed, against a human baseline of roughly three seconds per package. Across more than 200 continuous hours of operation, none of the robots suffered a mechanical breakdown or a system-halting crash; the only issues were occasional dropped or mis-oriented packages, which Figure logged as handling errors rather than robot failures.

Helix-02 and an autonomous fleet rotation

Helix-02 is described by Figure as a unified neural network that fuses vision, touch sensing, proprioception and whole-body control into a single model, in contrast to traditional industrial robots that split locomotion and manipulation across separate subsystems. To keep the line moving for 200 hours, Figure used an autonomous fleet rotation: when a Figure 03's roughly four-hour battery ran low, another unit automatically replaced it while the depleted robot walked itself to a wireless charging dock built into its feet.

From a 24-hour test to a multi-day marathon

On May 14, Figure had already pushed past 24 hours of continuous autonomous work, extending an originally planned eight-hour test. The 200-hour run, livestreamed on YouTube, ended with the robots still actively sorting and the engineering team celebrating with champagne behind the workstation while "Rose" kept working. Figure says its humanoids can also autonomously exit the floor for service if a fault is detected, with another unit taking over without human intervention.

A $39B startup chasing warehouse contracts

The endurance demonstration lands at a sensitive moment for Figure, which is now valued at roughly $39 billion and is competing with Tesla, Agility Robotics, Apptronik, Boston Dynamics and a growing field of Chinese humanoid makers for warehouse, factory and logistics contracts. Figure's Figure 02 robot previously logged extended shifts at BMW's Spartanburg plant, and the company is positioning Figure 03 as ready for around-the-clock industrial sortation deployments.

Humanoids inch toward continuous labor

Figure's marathon adds to a busy month for humanoid robotics that includes Japan Airlines deploying Unitree humanoids at Haneda Airport, Hugging Face open-sourcing the $2,500 LeRobot Humanoid, and Humanoid tapping Bosch to mass-produce its HMND 01. Capital is moving in the same direction, with Robotera raising over $200M led by SF Group as deployments scale.
