Saudi Arabia's HUMAIN, the Public Investment Fund-owned artificial intelligence company, has picked Silicon Valley's Applied Intuition as the technology backbone of what the two companies call the largest autonomous trucking network in the world, with first Level 4 trucks on Saudi roads within a year and thousands operating along key freight corridors by 2030.
A national framework for physical AI
Announced on the sidelines of Riyadh's LEAP technology conference, the long-term commercial partnership pairs HUMAIN's sovereign AI infrastructure with Applied Intuition's end-to-end physical AI stack, including its Self-Driving System, Vehicle OS and vehicle intelligence tools. HUMAIN CEO Tareq Amin said thousands of autonomous trucks operating around the clock could transform the speed, cost and capacity of the kingdom's logistics network, setting a global benchmark for autonomous freight.
Trucking first, robotaxis and mining next
Applied Intuition's Self-Driving System is already on roads in the United States, Europe and Japan on Level 4 trucks, and co-founder and CEO Qasar Younis called Saudi Arabia the kind of national-scale deployment his platform was built for. Future phases of the collaboration extend into robotaxis, ports, mining, manufacturing, agriculture and construction, echoing Applied's broader ambition to bring intelligence to a billion moving machines.
Building a Riyadh team
Applied Intuition has opened a Riyadh office and is hiring locally to launch, operate and scale autonomous fleets, framing the effort as a long-term commitment to the kingdom rather than a one-off deployment. The deal is the first major move under HUMAIN's physical AI strategy, following the group's investments in Arabic-first enterprise AI and Saudi Arabia's recent Dana agentic platform reveal.
