Lancium And NVIDIA Team Up To Deploy Gigawatt-Scale AI Factories

Texas developer Lancium has signed a strategic partnership with NVIDIA that turns its 4 GW leased plus 15+ GW pipeline of clean campuses into deployment sites for NVIDIA's DSX AI factory stack, alongside a direct NVIDIA equity investment.

Lancium And NVIDIA Team Up To Deploy Gigawatt-Scale AI Factories

Lancium, the Texas energy-infrastructure company behind the Abilene campus that anchors the Stargate project, has signed a strategic collaboration with NVIDIA that turns its entire portfolio into a deployment platform for NVIDIA's AI factory stack. NVIDIA has also taken a direct equity stake in Lancium, which is backed by Blackstone's energy-transition and multi-asset funds, the companies announced on August 24, 2026.

4 GW leased, 15+ GW in the pipeline

The scale numbers are what make the deal unusual. Lancium says it has around 4 gigawatts of capacity under lease and more than 15 gigawatts of powered land in development, spread across sites including the 1.2 GW Abilene Clean Campus that hosts Stargate's first operational build, a 1 GW Childress County campus announced with Crusoe in July, and a Hall County site where QTS will design, build and operate the buildings. Lancium owns the land and electrical infrastructure and pairs interconnections with behind-the-meter solar and battery storage.

DSX MaxLPS and DSX Flex

The technical core is NVIDIA's DSX platform, first put to work at Cloverleaf Infrastructure just days earlier. Lancium will deploy DSX MaxLPS, a set of power-management technologies that NVIDIA claims can fit up to 40% more GPUs into the same power budget by combining 45°C liquid cooling with in-rack optimisation. DSX Flex handles the grid side, dynamically adjusting AI factory consumption in response to utility load-shedding, demand response and pricing signals across utility power, onsite renewables and storage — a natural fit for Lancium's grid-responsive campus model on ERCOT.

Blackstone's chip-and-power play

The financial terms of NVIDIA's investment were not disclosed. Reuters reported on August 8 that NVIDIA was planning to put up to $3 billion into Lancium — an initial $2 billion for roughly a 20% stake, with a further $1 billion contingent on grid-hookup milestones at an enterprise value of about $10 billion — but neither party has confirmed those numbers. Blackstone senior managing director Bilal Khan called the deal a validation of Lancium's position at the intersection of energy and AI infrastructure. Lancium is separately funded by a $600M debt facility closed in October 2025 to advance its Clean Campus strategy, and its Abilene campus is anchored by a $3.4B joint venture between Crusoe, Blue Owl Capital and Primary Digital Infrastructure. The next observable checkpoint is the planned Q3 2026 construction start at Childress County.
