Construction-tech startup Rebar has raised $14 million in Series A funding to scale a computer-vision platform that reads building blueprints to automatically identify, categorize and count equipment and materials. The company says its software cuts quote-generation time by 60 to 70 percent.
What Rebar does
Subcontractors typically spend dozens of hours per bid manually counting fixtures, sizing duct runs and quantifying materials. Rebar’s vision models ingest PDF and CAD plan sets and produce a structured bill of materials linked back to plan pages. The output flows into estimating systems for pricing.
Why builders are buying
Labor shortages and shrinking quote margins are squeezing US specialty contractors. Tools that compress estimating hours directly improve win rates and pre-construction throughput, two of the few levers contractors still control.
Where Rebar fits
The round adds Rebar to a growing list of computer-vision specialists getting funded across vertical applications. Cognex unveiled its In-Sight 3900 edge AI vision system in late 2025, and Niantic Spatial signed a 3D physical AI partnership with Spexi. The common thread: high-quality plan and scene understanding is becoming a discrete, billable product layer.
Use of proceeds
Rebar plans to use the capital to expand its engineering and customer-success teams and to extend its plan-recognition models to MEP and structural disciplines. The company is targeting general availability of a structural take-off product in late 2026.
