Hydrogen-technology company Siltrax — a specialist in proton-exchange-membrane fuel cells and electrolyzers built around silicon bipolar-plate technology — has launched its Americas commercialization initiative, appointing Roberto Iriti as Commercial Director, Americas.
Silicon as bipolar-plate material
Bipolar plates are one of the largest cost drivers inside a PEM stack. Siltrax argues that its silicon-based plates cut weight and cost without sacrificing conductivity, opening a path to cheaper industrial-scale hydrogen production and stationary-power generation. The company plans a network of demonstration units across the Americas to prove the technology in real operating conditions before large deployments.
Why the Americas, why now
North America is quietly becoming the world's most active PEM electrolyzer market: the global electrolyzer market is projected to reach $2.1 billion in 2026 and $8.8 billion by 2033, with the North American small-capacity segment growing at a 27.8% CAGR through 2032. Siltrax is betting that its silicon-plate approach differentiates it from incumbents that dominate the metallic-plate market.
