Chinese brain-computer interface unicorn BrainCo picked the World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) in Shanghai this weekend to launch what it says is the world's first integrated "brain-to-robot" platform, letting a user in a lightweight EEG headset drive a robotic arm to grasp a cup, pick up an apple or operate a humanoid using thought alone.

How Neuro-Embodied-AI works

BrainCo calls the underlying framework Neuro-Embodied-AI. An EEG headset picks up the operator's neural signals, an AI layer decodes them into motor intent, breaks that intent down into actionable steps, and dispatches commands to the robot's own control stack — the full loop, the company says, runs in under 200 milliseconds. The Brain-Controlled Robot AI Platform ships with pre-loaded BCI experimental paradigms and neural decoding algorithms, and BrainCo claims a developer without prior BCI expertise can bring up a mind-controlled robot task within 10 minutes.

Data collection: the other half of the pitch

Alongside the platform, BrainCo debuted an Embodied AI Data Collection Solution aimed squarely at what the company calls the field's most persistent bottleneck — a shortage of high-quality, real-world training data for dexterous robot tasks. The rig combines a dual-arm wheeled data-collection platform, a high-precision data-collection glove and, unusually, EEG capture from the human demonstrator. That means it logs what the operator's hands are doing and what the operator's brain was telling those hands to do, then feeds both into robot policy training.

A decade of BCI work, one of Hangzhou's 'six little dragons'

Founded in 2015, BrainCo is one of Hangzhou's so-called "six little dragons" — a cohort of hometown startups that includes Unitree and DeepSeek. "A decade of BCI research has given us the ability to decode what a person intends to do and translate that into machine action," said Nyx He, partner and senior vice president of BrainCo, adding that integrating BCI, AI and embodied AI "will define the next chapter of human-machine collaboration." The company's booth also featured its 21-DOF Revo 3 dexterous hand, an Intelligent Bionic Hand prosthetic and an Intelligent Bionic Leg — reinforcing its earlier $286M funding push into medical and consumer BCI.

The WAIC unveil lands alongside a wave of Chinese physical-AI launches, including AgiBot's four-robot debut and China's push to stand up a rival AI governance bloc via WAICO.
