CopySight Raises $3M Seed From Mucker Capital For AI Copyright Risk Layer

CopySight, a Los Angeles-based AI intellectual property governance company, has raised a $3 million seed round led by Mucker Capital with participation from Taisu VC, Flint Capital and Yellow Rocks!. Announced on 30 July 2026, the funding coincides with the launch of CopyScore V2, extending the startup's copyright and likeness risk-scoring platform from AI-generated images into video and positioning it as the emergent IP clearance layer for generative content.

What CopyScore V2 does

CopyScore V2 analyses AI-generated video frame by frame, comparing characters, faces, logos and styles against reference libraries and combining those signals with the underlying prompts, model versions and generation settings to score risk in milliseconds. Risk is classified across five categories — trademarks, characters, brand and iconic designs, celebrity likenesses, and art and styles — and every assessment is written to an immutable chain-of-creation log. The system flags transient exposure, such as a logo appearing briefly in the background or a split-second celebrity likeness match, that human reviewers routinely miss.

Why the round matters

Since January 2026 the platform has processed more than 87,000 copyright and IP risk checks across studio, platform, legal and enterprise workflows, a 25x rise over that window. Named customers include AGBO, ArentFox Schiff and OpenArt, and the company says it is embedded in IP hygiene, review and validation workflows at major Hollywood studios. Proceeds will scale CopySight's scoring architecture deeper into enterprise video production pipelines, where liability from foundation-model outputs is now the primary blocker to shipping AI content commercially.

Founding team and investor thesis

CopySight is led by co-founder and CEO Artem Petrov and CTO Konstantin Orlov, with technical and creative talent drawn from Snap, Apple and Meta. Mucker Capital partner David Borcsok described the company as "defining the IP layer for generative AI and modern content creation", framing objective risk and ownership signals as the trust primitive that generative AI needs before it can scale into regulated commercial workflows. The round lands into a rush of enterprise governance investment covered in stablemate stories including the recent Discern Security $13M Series A from Forgepoint, Onyx Security's $113M Series B for an AI control plane and Hush Security's $30M Series A for AI agent governance.
