Core Scientific and AMD unveiled a landmark AI-infrastructure partnership on July 28, 2026 that gives AMD access to up to 2.5 gigawatts of U.S. data-center capacity — one of the largest single AI capacity deals of the year and a decisive pivot for the former bitcoin miner.

500 MW Now, Path To 2.5 GW By 2028

The deal secures 529 megawatts across Core Scientific sites in Pecos and Hunt County, Texas; Muskogee, Oklahoma; Auburn, Alabama; and Dalton, Georgia. AMD directly leased 377 MW, with an unnamed cloud provider taking a further 152 MW under AMD-backed agreements. AMD reserves rights to expand to a total of up to 2.5 gigawatts through 2028. Core Scientific said the 15-year contracts represent about $14 billion in base contracted revenue. Deployments begin in 2027.

Instinct, EPYC and ROCm — AMD's Full Stack Gets A Home

Core Scientific and AMD will collaborate on physical-infrastructure design and the deployment of AMD Instinct GPUs, EPYC CPUs and ROCm software. The partnership expands AMD's ability to sell AI capacity as a service and complements this month's 2 GW Anthropic MI450 commitment. Warrants for 30 million CORZ shares at $23.47 give AMD an equity stake — 6.5 million vested at signing, with the remainder tied to future capacity milestones.

Core Scientific Completes A Bitcoin-To-AI Reinvention

Core Scientific (Nasdaq: CORZ) has been steadily converting mining facilities into AI-ready colocation as the AI capex boom accelerates. The AMD deal follows termination of its ASIC agreement with Block and cements CORZ's role as a hyperscale colocation supplier for the AMD ecosystem. "AI deployments are accelerating rapidly, and bringing that compute online requires trusted infrastructure partners with the scale and power to support the next era of AI," said AMD SVP Mathew Hein.
